First Night with the Indians (1984–5)

First Night with the Indians was formed by friends David and Mark in Liverpool. They started writing songs and gigging as a 3-piece, supported by David’s old Rochdale friend on drums.

Keith had known Mark since school, and he introduced them to friend and drummer Dave. Disappointed with the short lives of his previous Liverpool bands Paddy’s Wigwam and The Temple City Moose Club, Keith cheekily invited himself along to the first rehearsal, adding complimentary guitar and synth parts. They must have liked it because he was invited to join too.

The band played at the Sphinx Bar (at Liverpool University) to a very receptive audience.

They were featured and interviewed on a Radio Merseyside alternative music programme. They eventually disbanded due to education commitments.

Keith subsequently formed another band with Dave Veitch and Tub Collins, which fizzled out through lack of momentum.
