I left Ambassadors of Doubt during the recording of the second album in 2025. I was frustrated with slow progress and lack of momentum. I just wasn’t feeling it. Consequently, my own contributions were becoming increasingly lacklustre. So, it seemed like a good idea to quit while I was ahead.
After a year-long hiatus, I was inspired by Inferno, the excellent album by Boards of Canada, which renewed my interest in Electronica. I last dabbled in 2023, when I contributed to a one-off track with OPE and Adrian Silver. My first attempt, Long Division, was over 20 years ago.
Chatting to friend Richard Stockdill (OPE / Crimson Creatures / Ambassadors of Doubt) about this, he suggested that he might have something suitable, and sent me what he’d been working on. I rearranged the various components and added guitars and plenty of samples. I was going for a particular sound and this is what we ended up with.
This is an informal collaboration. There is no intention to produce an album or perform. More music may or may not appear in the future. But I hope it does.
